Andy Cole and his kidney transplant
Andy Cole was a professional footballer, whose career lasted from 1988 to 2008. Playing for Manchester United, whe won five league titles, the Champions League and three FA Cups, including the treble in 1999.
The forward, who scored 121 goals in 275 appearances for the Old Trafford club (and 187 in total), played for 12 clubs in his career and made 15 appearances for England.
He is fourth on the list of scorers in Premier League history, behind only Alan Shearer, Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney.
He has focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). His nephew, Alexander Palmer, donated him a kidney in a successful transplant at Manchester Royal Infirmary in April 2017.
