What is gabapentin?
- Type of drug: gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogue
- Use: itching in CKD; chronic pain; epilepsy
- Dose: in CKD, start low dose, e.g. 100mg alternate nights
- Side-effects: confusion, drowsiness
- Monitor: neuropsychological side-effects.
